Movement Hub offers fiscal sponsorship, and project incubation services to strategically important initiatives. Sometimes this is for a short time before they build their own legal and administrative structures, sometimes we provide legal and administrative support for the long term.
Current projects
Movement Hub provides fiscal hosting, administrative support and in some cases strategic accompaniment to these projects:
Wir zusammen

Wir Zusammen is a project by Movement Hub and Bewegungsschule to develop a community organizing project that focuses on building local activist structures and campaigns in east Germany where right-wing forces are particularly strong and the support of an active civil society is particularly necessary.

Mietgemeinschaft Dresden-Johannstadt
The tenant community in Dresden Johannstadt is fighting back against excessive utility costs: more than 350 tenants have signed a petition demanding fair utility costs. The number of tenants who are reducing their advance payments themselves is growing – as is the pressure on landlords to come up with a real solution.

Take back the migration narrative
In this project, stakeholders of politics, NGOs, activism, and media are working together to develop a narrative on migration that is inclusive and creates a strong sense of social cohesion. The race-class narrative is intended to counter right-wing narratives and oppose social divisions.
Kiezprojekt

The neighborhood project supports rent initiatives in various parts of Berlin in getting started. They work together with Pankow gegen Verdrängung, Mieterinitiative Mariendorf-Ost, Kiez-Initiative Weiße Siedlung, RuBornZe-Kiez Lichtenberg, Mietfüchse Reinickendorf Ost, and Berliner Bündnis gegen Vonovia und Co., among others.
Soziale Wärmewende Jetzt!

An emotional debate about the Heating Act, the construction of LNG terminals that are not particularly environmentally friendly, and rising rents across the country: the transition to an ecological heating sector faces major challenges. This is why Soziale Wärmewende Jetzt! was launched. The aim is to bring tenants and climate activists together to fight for well-renovated apartments that are warm in winter, cool in summer, and affordable all year round! However, the status quo is that the modernization levy allows the costs of new heating systems or insulation to be passed on to tenants. This law must be abolished in the interests of a social heat transition.
In addition to conferences and interviews, the first rent initiatives are currently being set up.
Previous Hosted Projects
Here is a selection of some of the projects that Movement Hub has supported with fiscal sponsorship and/or administrative support and/or Strategic Mentoring to in the past:
Zentro

The Center for Transformative Organizing (ZenTrO) offers training and retreats, strategy consulting, and process support for politically engaged individuals and organizations. ZenTrO always connects three areas: Organizing – How can those directly affected be at the center of social movements and win? Transformation – How do we change structural power relations step by step? Regeneration – How can we organize ourselves for the long term and do ourselves good in the process? ZenTrO consists of a team of experienced organizers, trainers, facilitators, and movement strategists. During the start-up phase, Movement Hub was able to advise ZenTrO and support them as a fiscal host. Today, we work together on various projects.
Let’s socialize Konferenz

The conference ‘Let’s Socialize – Socialization as a Strategy for Climate Justice’ in March 2024 brought together over 300 participants from social movements, academia, and trade unions to develop ways to achieve a democratic economy oriented toward the common good. The focus was on the energy, mobility, agriculture, and care work sectors. Together, project ideas and campaigns were developed that aim at democratic administration from the bottom up. The conference was a powerful kick-off to strengthen the movement for socialization and climate justice.
Centro de Educación Popular – CEP Lohana Berkins

CEP Lohana Berkins education center emerged from the practical work of Latin American activists in Berlin. It is based on Paulo Freire’s concept of Educación Popular, which understands education as a political practice against racism, patriarchy, and social exclusion. CEP offers workshops with anti-colonial, feminist, and queer perspectives—oriented toward the realities of migrants in Berlin. Its members bring many years of experience in grassroots education, prison education, and the ‘Theatre of the Oppressed.’ CEP also participates in digital projects such as LUPAI, an AI application that supports migrants with german bureaucratic issues: lupai.de
Wir fahren zusammen

To ensure a livable future for all, the strike alliance Wir Fahren Zusammen is campaigning for better working conditions, more staff, and the expansion of local transport. The alliance of local transport workers and the youth climate justice movement is therefore calling on politicians to double investment in local transport. In 2024, climate activists in 30 locations will support the workers’ picket lines – ver.di chairwoman Christine Behle has also committed herself to stronger climate protection. As a movement hub, we collaborated with Wir Fahren Zusammen from 2023 to 2024 to support public relations work through message development, DIY testing, and a campaign film. Based on this, the race-class-narrative was adapted to the German context for the first time in collaboration with the campaign’s activists.
